“Electric Love” by Michigan singer/songwriter Garrett Borns, now known only as Borns, is gaining traction after his appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” a few weeks ago.

The song—which sounds fantastic!– been around for months, but the buzz is getting louder. “Electric Love” has that Euro pop sound, and falls into the category of “psychedelic pop” similar to the late Marc Bolan and his glam rock band T-Rex, except in 1971 it wasn’t “Electric Love”–it was “Hot Love.”

“Electric Love” is almost a “Must Listen To.” Cool, hip, easy on the ear, modern, crisp, energizing, mesmerizing, fun, sophisticated, polished, smart, smooth, sexy, easy to dance to, easy to sing along with, catchy hooks.

The video screams 1970’s: men with long hair, fringe jackets, glitter, an LSD-like light show, a smoke machine, neon.

What’s amazing is Borns himself …he’s 23 years old! At 10, he was a professional magician. By 13, he’d won a National Scholastic Art Award along with a college scholarship to the Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, MI.

One thing led to another, he was signed by Interscope Records, and his debut album, “Dopamine,” has just been released. The title gives some insight into the mind of this creative, talented, focused young man.

If you want to see him perform, he’s on tour, playing a lot of music festivals.
