Things move fast in a digital world, and in case you blinked, here’s one of music’s newest sensations, 20-year old Australian Troye Sivan. He’s already appeared on the cover of “Rolling Stone,” wowed “Ellen,” and guested on both “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Late Show.”
A super-talented YouTube sensation, Troye has an impressive background as an actor ( X-Men Origins: Wolverine) in addition his music career, which is taking off with “Youth,” a haunting and touching ballad, that’s currently climbing into the Top 20 on the Pop charts, with a good chance that it will become one of this summer’s major hits.
As a certifiable Boomer, I’d never heard of this kid, and now I’m so glad to know about him because he’s got so much positive energy and youthful zest and joy for life, whatever that might mean, he’s ready for it: Bring. It. On.
Love the lyrics:
What if we run away
What if we left today
We said goodbye to safe and sound
What if we’re hard to find
What if we lost our minds
What if We let them fall behind, and they’re never found
And when the lights start flashing like a photo booth
And the stars exploding
We’ll be fireproof
In the video his performance communicates happiness, enthusiasm, and optimism.
During the mid-60’s British Invasion The Moody Blues often had that same same spirited, driving intensity as “Youth” which you can hear in their their first Top 40 hit, the mesmerizing “Go Now,” even though it’s a whole different story line.
