Rarely is there a year without the pairing of a male and female pop star trading lyrics on a duet of new found romance or of one that’s faded away.
Back in 1984 it was “Almost Paradise” by Canadian pop star Mike Reno, and Ann Wilson of Heart –their love ballad became the theme song to “Footloose.”
Today, it’s “Reminding Me,” a new release with a story line that’s a little bit of both new found and faded love, by Canadian pop singer Shawn Hook featuring actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens—she recently co-hosted the Billboard Music Awards and is best known for her role as Gabriella in the Disney film sensation “High School Musical.”
We live in turbulent times—it’s soothing to hear a love ballad with a predictable format: “he said, she said,” if it’s over, or else mutual admiration, if it’s still happening. Almost everyone has experienced either or both of those emotional states, be they Millennial, or Boomers, in our 50s or 60s.
There’s always a need for romance, for every generation, and at every age.
