It’s been exactly 50 years, September of 1965, since Barry McGuire’s “Eve Of Destruction” soared to number one on Billboard’s Top 40 chart.  The song, which was an instant hit, was recorded in one take on a Thursday (from words scrawled on a crumpled piece of paper), and by Monday  morning it was being played was on the radio.

How sad that the lyrics, about about war, nuclear annihilation and racism, are still current.
