Casually mention “Black Beatles” at holiday parties, and you’ll  be the hippest person in the room.

One of The hottest tunes in music right now –#1 on Rhythmic Top 40 radio—is “Black Beatles” by a a duo known as Rae Sremmurd, two brothers from Tupelo, Mississippi (home of the “King,” Elvis Presley) and also featuring rapper Gucci Mane.

As of this writing “Black Beatles” has almost 212 million you tube views.   That’s a very popular song.

“Black Beatles” is targeted to the young and maybe urban, and being a white baby baby boomer, I missed a lot of the social cues and didn’t really understand the lyrics, but it’s nice to know what millions of millennials are listening to.

There are numerous references to the other (white) Beatles, both in the video and in the lyrics—for example the video has a nod to the now famous Beatles rooftop concert, and the also famous photo of the boys striding across the street at Abbey Lane.  In addition, the duo count Paul McCartney as a fan.

Of course you’ll want to hear the song at least once before you bring it up over cocktails at the company party… the link is below.
