Kelly Clarkson describes her latest hit, “Love So Soft,” as a “sassy, soulful pop song” adding “we felt that it was like a modern day “Respect,” referring to Aretha Franklin’s 1967 classic.
The title might say “soft” but the song is anything but. Clarkson’s voice (like Aretha’s) is huge– powerful, and this song has the hard hitting, fast tempo, in your face attitude that only a confident and sassy woman, with a lot of presence, can carry off. Both Clarkson and Aretha Franklin have that covered.
Every kiss is a door
Can I knock on yours?
Can we knock a little more?
Love so soft, you aint’ had nothing softer
Break it then you buy it and it sure gonna cost ya
Love so soft that you can’t rub it off
“Love So Soft” ranks #13 on the Adult Top 40 radio format, and is also charting on mainstream Top 40, and Adult Contemporary formats.
Americans have watched Clarkson’s entire 16-year career unfold as she went from an unknown to national fame when she became the first winner on a then new reality show, “American Idol.”
Now she’s a household name, soon to release her 8th album, publishing her second children’s book, and, starting in Feb., she’ll be a judge on “The Voice.”
