Fellow Boomers, we live in turbulent times. Our halcyon youth has given way to a tense world, fake news and a hot and smoky summer.

When it’s all just too much, that’s the moment to tune into “Feels”—a new song that isn’t deep, insightful, spiritual or intellectual, and that’s exactly the point…just get in the groove, and let the fake news and heat drift away…similar to the way you may have grooved to “Dazz” in 1977, when the group Brick made it easy to fall into their web as they weaved a similar sound.

“Feels” has Katy Perry singling lines like this:

Don’t be afraid to catch feels

…although it really sounds likes she’s saying “Don’t be afraid to catch FISH,” which makes sense, because in the video Pharrell Williams is in a row boat, in a very blue lagoon.

However, this song isn’t about making sense, at least not to this Boomer, rather, it’s about just –groovin’—feeling good—no matter if you are 32 or 62-years old.

Pharrell Williams, of “Happy” fame, gets most of the screen time, and to ensure the required level of hipness, rapper Big Sean does his bit, too.

Producing this whole thing, and also performing in it, is big-time DJ and record producer Calvin Harris (recall he and Taylor Swift were an item for 15 minutes a while back).

“Feels” is already an international Top10 level hit in Europe, Australia, and Canada.  It’s #11 on American Top 40 charts.

As Boomers, we can the groove with the best of them, but I must confess to feeling “out of it” when I saw that “Feels” is from an album called “”Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1.”  Duh.

If you need help getting into the mood, watch the video, it looks like a Gauguin painting, all peacock blue water, purple parrots, and vibrant yellow flowers.
