How can this be?  I’m a woman of a certain age, an early Boomer, and I’m loving Pitbull!  A rapper! He’s smart and sweet, a real decent guy, and his music is tight, slick and sophisticated, and here’s yet another example of his big talent as he and Enrique Iglesias are “Messin’ Around” in an incredibly hot and raunchy song inspired by the chorus and hook from “Take it on the Run!”  Yes, that “Take it on the Run,”  from 1981, by REO Speedwagon.

“Messin Around” is just as wonderful as “Take it on the Run.” Both songs have interesting, smart lyrics and top-notch musicianship. Pitbull adds his own style, and the song is just irresistible:  the energy, instrumentations, it all comes together for a track that will likely be one of Top 40 radios big hits this summer.

BG: Pitbull is from Miami; he’s 35 years old.

He was born just a few months before “Take it on the Run”– the song that inspired “Messin’ Around” –was released. One wonders:  Did he hear REO Speedwagon while in his playpen?

Pitbull and Enquire Iglesias have previous collaborations including the hits “I Like How It Feels,” “Come N Go” and “Tchu Tchu Tcha.” They also toured together from 2014-2015.
