There’s a lot of energy in the room when an in-your-face woman sings kick ass rock ‘n’ roll–think “Would I Lie to You?” –Annie Lennox growling at Dave Stewart who responds by playing a very tough and sexy guitar.
Sia, a big and established Aussie star, generates that kind of heat in her current top 40 hit “Cheap Thrills,” going back and forth with Sean Paul, a Jamaican dancehall Reggae Pop recording artist, musician, producer and actor. Between his patois and her intenisty, “Cheap Thrills” is all about the excimetment of letting loose and dancing.
“Cheap Thrills” isn’t as sophisticated as the songs “The Eurythmics” delivered throughout the 80s, but Sia–full name Sia Kate Isobelle Furler–is an exceptional all around talent- a skilled music producr, a singer and songwriter—she’s written songs for Christina Aguilera, Rhianna, Flo-Rida and other top name talent.
While she’s been well known to industry insiders, it was just three years ago that Sia, who is 40 years old, exploded on the mainstream pop music scene with her hit “Chandelier.” Here’s the link to the video, which has had over ONE BILLION views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vjPBrBU-TM
