The Chainsmokers are Andrew Taggert and Alex Pall, a New York DJ/production duo that have maintained a consistent, year long presence on the Pop charts.

That, plus their collaborations with other super-groups, like Coldplay, and their last year’s Grammy nomination for “Closer,” their first  #1 hit (and another collaboration, this time with Halsey) has made them mainstays on Top 40 and Adult Top 40 radio.

Their latest is “Honest,” an evergreen concept with limitless interpretations.

Flashback to 1979, when Billy Joel’s “Honesty” told a tale of truthfulness with a different point of view.

Joel talks of deep and conflicted needs, he’s clear about what he wants, and why. The lyrics are introspective.  There’s an urgency.

“Honest,” on the other hand, is casual, low-key, disengaged, not exactly simplistic, but not that complicated—as if Jeff Spicoli from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” was explaining the concept.

Gotta love lines like this:

And I’m not gonna tell you that I’m over it
‘Cause I think about it every night I’m not sober…
…But you’re not the only one on my mind

“Honest” follows up to The Chainsmokers #1 “Something Just Like This” which was posted by Boomer Music Update in  March. https://boomermusicupdate.com/top-40/chainsmokers-one-todays-hottest-bands/
