Trust me.  I’m (pretty) sure you’ll (almost) certainly love (or at least like) this duet by Macklemore, a rapper, featuring Kesha, a rocker, which COULD cause an immediate (not-pleasant) feeling of not knowing something that a lot of other people know, which is why …

…I want to immediately quell any thoughts you, my fellow Boomer, my have, about being unfamiliar with either of those two names, and to not let that get in the way of experiencing a really good song, sung by two bona fide stars in their 30’s, reflecting on life ––in this case, before they became rock stars, and immediately link this current top 15 ranked Top 40 hit,  “Good Old Days,“ to a song you are familiar with, Bob Seger’s  “Against The Wind”, also a song of reflection. He was in his mid-30s when he wrote this classic line:

“Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then”

That said, here’s Macklemore and Kesha’s version of the same sentiment:

“Couldn’t wait to get older, couldn’t wait to be someone
Now that I’m here, wishing I was still young
Those good old days”

Now that the oldest Boomers are 70+, “reflecting on the past” takes on a new meaning i.e. it’s one thing to look back on 35 years of life (a chunk of it spent as a child) and quite another to review twice that amount of time (and all of it as an adult).

We love Macklemore, and featured “Glorius” last Sept.  https://boomermusicupdate.com/weekly-whatever/the-rapper-his-grandmother/

“The Adventures Of Kesha and Macklemore Tour” kicks off in Phoenix on June 6th.
