On the heels of last month’s HBO Bee Gees documentary “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” is today’s release of “Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook, Vol. 1.”

Barry Gibb has collected Bee Gees favorites and re-recorded them with contributions from Keith Urban, Dolly Parton, Little Big Town, Alison Kraus, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert and more,

“Butterfly” with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings was featured on the HBO show, and  is included in the “Songbook.”   It’s charming, light and airy, able to uplift the spirits of pandemic weary folks.

Green fields where we used to wander

Purple valleys, near my home

The  video is soothing, too—lots of green:  leaves, grass, water…

The project’s organizer, Barry Gibb, admits it was an emotional experience.  “I feel deep down that Maurice and Robin would have loved this album for different reasons. I wish we could have all been together to do it…but I think we were.”

Cherry on top:  Barry Gibb is a life-long Elvis Presley’ fan and today is “The King’s” 86th birthday.
