Ironic, isn’t it, that the same “Memorial Day Weekend!” that kicks off Summer Surf & Sun! is also a solemn, sad remembrance (not a “holiday”) that’s personal to families and friends who lost loved ones in an American war—any war, and that’s also public, because the post World War II prosperity that many, but not all, Boomers enjoyed, was paid for by courageous men and women, mostly young, who sacrificed their life for ours.
