Paul Simon’s upcoming tour, appropriately named “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour” is his last. He’s not “retiring,” but he won’t be touring anymore. At 76-years old, Simon says that “travel and time away from my wife and family take a toll that detracts from the joy of playing.”
You can’t fault a man for that, but, still, it’s a scary reality check, coming on the heels of Elton John’s announcement that he, too, is on his last tour.
Paul Simon’s music is woven into the fabric of our generation’s shared memory and experience. His songs are on the soundtrack of our life.
