Van Morrison’s 42nd album, “Latest Record Project: Volume 1” is in release today, a 28 song, three-disc set of all new material: “I’m getting away from the perceived same songs, same albums all the time. This guy’s done 500 songs, maybe more, so hello? Why do you keep promoting the same ten? I’m trying to get out of the box.”
That said, “Only a Song” is vintage Van Morrison: unique, passionate, soulful, bluesy.
Give credit where credit is due: Morrison goes way back: “Gloria (w/ Them), “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Moondance,” “Domino,” “Wild Night.”
