It’s been month of loss in the music world: Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals, Helen Reddy, Mac Davis, Eddie Van Halen. Each song and performance left an indelible mark on our collective musical consciousness.

While he wasn’t as famous as the above artists, Roy Head, who passed away in Sept. at age 79, has a permanent place in rock history with “Treat Her Right” a rock classic from 1965 that’s stood the test of time and still has a dedicated fan base.

Quentin Tarantino included it in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” introducing Roy Head and “Treat Her Right” to a new generation of rock music fans.

You can feel of the energy and excitement in “Treat Her Right” in this James Brown level performance from the “Hollywood A Go Go” TV show, hosted by then local radio star, “boss jock” Sam Riddle.

Like Father, Like Son:   In 2011, Sundance Head, Roy’s son, won season 11 of “The Voice.”
